Dwarfs grudges

Hello everyone. I can't get to control the new grudge system. I started a campaign with Malakai and grudges keep popping up as aborted without me being able to do anything. Is that related to the disappearance of other races that i still don't know? How are we supposed to achieve certain confederations or objectives with civilizations in the other side of the map? I find it a bit frustrating.
