Stragglers .................it has been happening since Troy ..................your lucky you only have 2 , usually its about half a dozen

from the time CA implemented Ajax and Diomedes in Troy saga and to current (Pharaoh )....... morale for the AI has become nearly impossible to get the AI to rout...............we have these stragglers............annoying, is that even with a handful of men the morale will be over 90% in the AI setup........ they will never rout and so you as the player need to search the map to wipe out enemy AI units, 1, 2 or even half a dozen

It was far easier with initial Troy setup and up to and including Amazon introduction .........................maybe the human players whining and winging for longer battles made the CA go down the super easy path of giving the AI units "unbreakable morale" .............lazy

I confirm that this still happens and there is no workaround for the player

This also messes up stances. Sometimes if some of your men get stuck and stay back as soon as you activate the stance, the entire unit wants to go to these two dudes that are stuck 100m behind the rest of the unit.
