Recently, there have
been many different rumors about what exactly the next
Total
War in the fantasy setting will be dedicated to.
Indeed, what a surprise is
being prepared for all of us by the Creative Assembly when the latest DLC is released for Warhammer 3!
What will it be? Age of Sigmar? Warhammer 40000? Star Wars?
I would love to play all this, but I think that the team should not concentrate on developing these games at the moment.
AoS and 40K - Let's be honest, FB is the most mundane and easiest Warhammer
world to implement.
And if the Creative Assembly throws all their efforts into developing AoS or 40K right now, we won't see other fantasy setting games soon.
Yes, after many years of cooperation with Games Workshop,
the license will be the easiest to get. But perhaps both developers and players should take
a break from Warhammer for
now and focus on something else...
Star Wars - Yes,despiteall the upheavalsthatthisfranchisehas gone through, itstillhas an army of fanswhowill be glad to see the release of a large-scalestrategyfor their beloveduniverse.But just likewith40K,thisgame will taketoomuchefforttodevelopandit will certainlynot look liketheusualgame of

think it's better to leave the experiments for later.
That's why I think that now is
the best time to develop to Total War The Lord of the
Rings.
Judge for yourself, this is the game that fans have
been waiting for for many years, for me personally it is
the first on the waiting list.
Ithinkthatdeveloping,drawingandanimating the world of Middle-earth is mucheasierfrom a technicalpoint of view,sinceunlikeanyWarhammerworld, it is muchlesspretentiousandgrotesque.Armor,weapons,characters,architectureandmonsterslookandfeelmuchmoremoderateandnaturalhere.
I think the developers understand perfectly well that fans want to buy this game. And with decent performance, it will bring them a good profit.
Yes, I really want TW:LOTR, but what exactly does it have to be in
order to become the most successful game that fans have
been dreaming about for many years?
1)This should be Peter Jackson's world.
Yes, this is
the first and most important point. Characters, locations, factions, monsters should look exactly like in our favorite movies. I think many people
will be disappointed if, during the announcement,
it turns out that the
long-awaited game will not have a movie license.
2)The game must adhere to
the book canon

The Battle for Middle-Earth...
Conquest...
The Return of the King The Game...
Remember the global spell system that allows you
to summon a Balrog from the warp to any point on
the map or bring down a meteor shower... (There
is no demonic dimension in Tolkien's world)
Remember the crowds of magicians who belong to every faction of Middle-Earth... (There were only five classical magicians with staves in the third age of Middle-earth.)
Remember the most powerful spell of Gandalf, capable of destroying the entire army of Mordor and Legolas with laser arrows...
Remember the Umbarian pirates storming Erebor...
EA's games were really good, but they took too much liberties with the
original source and are more of
a fun attraction in the scenery of Middle-Earth than a serious adaptation of Tolkien's world.
The Creative Assembly should choose a different approach.
3)Magic should be moderate.
TolkieninventedhisworldlongbeforeD&DandWarhammer came out. It is intheseworlds that magic has becomecommonplace.
ButinTolkien's world, anysummoning of elementalsandmassteleportationwouldlook out of place.
Telekinesisandmindcontrol are moresuitablehere.
Sauroncauses a shockwave with a wave of his mace,throwing off a wholeline of enemies - OK.
Sauronraises his handsto the skyand a hugemeteoriteinstantlyhitstheearth,destroyinghundreds of enemies - NOT OK.
In the game, onlylegendarylordsandheroes,whocanbecountedon the fingers, will be able to usespells.
Forexample,whatset of spellscanSaruman be equipped with:
-ShockWave
-Fireball
-Thunderstorm (A singlelightningstrikefrom the sky)
-The voice of Sauruman (Lures an enemyunittoyourside)
Sauroncouldhavecaused a stormon the globalmap,strengthening the forces of darknessin the chosenprovinceandweakening the forces of freepeoples.
4)Movie Soundtrack
HowardShore's work is great.Iwould like to hear my favoritesongsatcertainpointsin the game.So that the theme of MinasMorgulplayson the globalmapduring the preparationfor the battle.

5)At the start of the game, 4 factions can be made playable - Gondor, Rohan, Isengard, Mordor.
Elves,Dwarves,Goblins,Haradrim,Easterlings,Dale's men, Drúedain, Rangers of the North andothers canbeaddedin the following DLC.
But the elves of differentfactionsmust be different!
The elves of MirkwoodandRivendellarecompletelydifferenttribesandshouldnotbecopies of eachother.
This is myfavoritegame in Tolkien'sworld.If by somemiracle the CreativeAssemblymanages to get the rights to theheroesandcharacters of thisgame,thenI will be happy to seemyfavoritetrinity: Farin, Eradan and Andriel.
personally, I think 40K would be the best option and most likely.
An already good relationship with GW, many variable races/factions and the ability to constantly update new units to allow for the long term project CA are after.

Totally agree with TW: LotR. Tolkien’s universe is rich and vast and undoubtedly a potential all time best seller. And frankly I don’t think that the CA team would have any problem of developing it quite easily.
Also, and I’m not sure if mentioned before in another thread, a TW: Ice and Fire taking place in Martin’s GoT world would be really exciting. I’d love to hear your part on it…
