Hi.

Big time CSM fan here.

I’ve been thinking a lot about that ‘faction leak’ for an alleged 40K game (Base roster: Space Marines, CSM, Orks, Aeldari and Tyranids with either Guard or Necrons as Day 1 DLC.)

And I’ve been considering what they’re going to do for CSM’s LL’s in that rumored game.

So here’s my take, based on how GW treats Chaos in the 41st Millenium, marketability, and overall ‘common sense.’

Base roster LL’s:

Abaddon, Fabius Bile, Vashtorr the Arkifane.

GW loves pushing these guys as the faces of Undivided. Since that’s what they’re most known for, that’s how they’ll be represented in game one.

DLC pack factions:

Iron Warriors vs. Imperial Fists.

Night Lords.

Word Bearers.

Okay. I think we all know-there’s no way they’re going to pass up on the chance to have the Iron Warriors fight the Imperial Fists. Yeah? We can all agree on that one? They’ll probably sell Havocs in this?

Night Lords are trickier, they could go against anyone, but GW does love pitting them against Guard and Drukhari, so maybe one of those two? It’ll most likely have Raptors and Jump Pack Lords.

Word Bearers could go anywhere. Maybe even against Sisters-who knows? Probably would have Accursed Cultists and the dudes with the candles screaming prayers at everyone, maybe even ‘generic’ sorcerer’s.

Regardless, these 3 legions have pretty solid identities and could carry their own DLC’s, and they each have fandoms that can’t be ignored.

FLC: Huron Blackheart.

Let’s face it.

He isn’t the most iconic CSM dude, but he’s fun enough that he could beef up a pack and give us an interesting campaign.

WILDCARD: Alpha Legion.

…This brings us to Alpha Legion, which I don’t think ANYBODY can predict. It could be FLC, it could be DLC, the Lion could turn towards the camera and say ‘I AM ALPHARIUS’ and turn into an Alpharius campaign mid way through his campaign, etc.

What do you guys think? Got any other predictions for the ruinous powers in 40K?

Fabulous Bile? He’s an Emperors Children who actually hates Emperors Children. He works for himself.

I think CSM will be released as Black Legion and then the more unique Mono CSMs will be released as DLC.

The game is still years away from happening if it happens at all, so allow me to seriously doubt the veridity of any supposed "leaks".

As to how CSM would work, don't know why they would start with 3 LLs, sure, let's go with that number.

- Abaddon The Despoiler (Black Legion)

- Fabius Bile (Creations of Bile)

- Lord Arkos (Alpha Legion)

- Vashtorr the Arkifane (Dark Mechanicum?)

- Warsmith Honsou (Iron Warriors)

- Erebus (Word Bearers)

- Krieg Acerbus (Night Lords)

- Be'lakor (whatever his combination of Daemons, CSM and Chaos Knights CA would decide it'd called)

- Huron Blackheart (Red Corsairs)

- Cypher (The Fallen)

10 easy options for potential LLs, Abbadon is the "race leader" so he is in, then maybe Vasthorr and finally Huron to get a Psycker (even tho he isn't technically one)

I’m willing to bet the other mono-deity CSM’s will be treated like Daemons are in game 3.

I imagine well developed races like Death Guard will likely have their own LLs and hopefully the World Eaters will get a second helping of units. The Emperors children will also be getting a big refresh either this year or next.

I know DG have about 4 obvious LLs, 7+ types of Lord and 6 or 7 hero types.

I made a bit of a post here covering my idea's on ways of introducing the other races:

https://community.creative-assembly.com/total-war/total-war-warhammer/forums/4-%E2%81%82-total-war-franchise-general/threads/4175-more-idea-s-on-implementing-warhammer-40k-races?page=1#post-43931

Do you happen to know any signature aspects, traditions or cultures of the chaos space marines? Or ways they could be implemented?

Why not research the Daemonculaba in terms of recruiting new CSMs

The Death Guard use their 'Little Lords' in terms of special abilities

The Death Guard use Mantles of Corruption to specialise their leaders

Night Lords: Slavic inspired, mostly focus on terror tactics/leadership debuffs and jump pack units.

Alpha Legion: Focused on destabilizing societies, focus on cultists, also had a gimmick where they could use units from other Imperium armies as part of their lineup.

Word Bearers: Mostly focused on being actually loyal to Chaos, utilize Possessed, Cultists, Priests and Psykers.

Black Legion: The basic, "do whatever lel" army.

Iron Warriors: The shooting army, enjoys mechs, Warpsmiths, and Havocs.

Vashtorr's Legion: Mostly focused on sabotaging vehicles, also focuses on mechanized stuff.

Red Corsairs: Straight up pirates, focus on bikes.

Creations of Bile: Mad science faction, focuses on big monsters, and highly buffed individual units (Think Ikit Claw).

that does sound pretty awesome thanks!

Its a bit funny how some of them sound like a mirror of the loyalist chapters

@torak8988#3885 a common theme in 40k is that you have either the opposites for each other or rivals.

Imperial Fist and Iron Warriors are a famous set up.

Overall I think we will see a CSM that is Undivided and lead by Abbadon as "Race Leader".

With the Chaos Primarchs, you could easily see a strong daemon focus with their legions and their respective chaos gods.

No prob.

It sounds like that because that's what some of them are.

LET'S NOT.

It can add a romantic angle to the CSM.
