It wouldn't hurt to announce one new thing per week.

A concept art for a new unit.

New animations for old units/spells.

Explain a new mechanic.

A new landmark.

A new unique item.

A new faction.

A new generic lord/hero.

A new legendary lord/hero.

If you're gonna drip feed news, then please drip feed some actual new news. Something different. Doesn't need to be someting big, but it has to be something interesting. Something to talk about. Something to keep us hyped for the DLC.

You used to show actual showcase videos for new units. Taking a few minutes to write down an article about upcoming stuff is nothing compared to that.

They don't have to be nearly that granular.

4 LLs

3 LHs

3 Lords

3 Heroes

15 Units

That's 28 things.  That's 7 months of announcements right there.

Best thing I can offer is Champions of Slaanesh 1 minute Animation video in 2 weeks. Deal?

For CA, it does hurt when they try to listen to players' thoughts. I know how ridiculous it sounds, but honestly, it’s a pretty objective conclusion based on what I have seen.

We've seen front and back, we need concept art from the side.

Its takes away from the reveal trailer.

OoD trailer views were crap compared to other DLC because all the surprises were gone.

Probably another reason OoD didnt sell as well as ToD.

Yeah there is such a thing as oversharing, which can just as easily kill hype as drip-feeding can. We definetly got overspoiled by OoD and I think its only reasonable for CA to reign it in a little. We're still getting basically bi-monthly updates and larger patches, which is way more than before in both the realm of news and content-getting. We didn't get as much as last time in terms of news, but that's reasonable as to not overshare and also because it was pretty clear that CA didn't really have a clear idea at the time for what to do for 6.2. Which is a thing that can happen, they're only human after all. Plus running betas on the side and collecting/analyzing that feedback.

Not every content/news cycle is gonna look the same.

Who gives a ****!  It's a ****ing commercial!

3 weeks of hype is not worth 8 months of endless tedium!

Its not a constant 7 month tedium, but one with hype and news peaks every 2 month or so. We're between two right now. There's no reason to be angry just because the last update didn't bring exactly what you expected in terms of such news.

The trailer is supposed to be a big whoof that brings people into the DLC cycle, not just us dedicated fans. If everything is known beforehand, its just gonna be a whimper, sort of like OoD. And the DLC image is gonna suffer for it.

Honestly I think trying to maintain constant (and probably low-intensity) hype factor is a bad strategy for advertisement. Its only natural for interest in anything to fluctuate over time and its a better business strategy to actually have some wow-factor on actual release.

Except there kinda is.  Because the amount of content they gave use during OoD to hold us over for a 2 month period was WAY more than we got this time.

OoD's first dev blog revealed all 3 LLs and, like, 6 units.  We only got a third of that this time, but are having to wait the same amount of time till the next one.

If you wanna reveal less in each blog, fine.  But then do them more often.

No it wouldn't.  Because for the non-dedicated fans, they wouldn't be paying attention to anything until the trailer anyway.

Anyone who belongs to a TWWH online community and is keeping up with weekly content blogs is a dedicated fan.

For those actual dedicated fans, we don't NEED to be brought in with a trailer.  Because we'd already be here, every week, having a new discussion each week about some new character or units.

To be honest, pandering to the so-called dedicated fans is a waste of time, because they are guaranteed customers.

We're not entitled to any amount of concrete news just because we got a lot of it last time. We should consider ourselves lucky that CA has this new community-driven approach and sharing as much as they actually do.

Think of it. Before OoD, we couldn't even have dreamt of the day that CA would reveal actual stuff about the DLCs (more than the specific races in the pre-SoC roadmap) until the actual marketing month. And now here we are, getting demands of weekly revealings? Because all of the sudden, big bi-monthly announcements are not enough anymore? In the same way that the Greenskins in OoD were deemed insufficient because it didn't contain what people actually wanted (but nevertheless had completely valid stuff), now the style of news is criticized because it didn't reveal everything immediately or proceeds continously. Which frankly I find wholly unrealistic to expect.

You think that non-dedicated fans aren't also gonna find twitter posts revealing a unit or dev videos? Maybe not on the dot of 4pm CET, but a few days or weeks after.

Its clear that Ca has nothing ready and it's trying to stall time before announcing that the DLC is coming sometime in September or October.

JFC, there's nothing "lucky" about the fact that community backlash FINALLY got CA to stop treating us like **** during OoD's development.

We were incredibly UN-lucky that CA felt it was okay to treat us like that for YEARS.  And it took years of feedback from the community to get them to finally treat us like normal customers.

Guys we were over it many times already, exactly with almost every DLC. Why CA don't leak some info about x? Because if by some crazy reason x does not work, or turn out to be just bad for overall gameplay CA can't remove it or give up on it after they already announced it. Why? Because people would make hell about it. For example let's take previous DLC, what if on some point of development turn out that Greenskins aren't so well suited for this dlc that CA though at the begging but they can't switch them to race X because second team were developing it for they DLC would you allow it? I bet Greenskins fans would be furious as hell.

That's why as long as something isn't ready and is working correctly CA isn't going to announce it. So, as I already said few times, let them cook.

Impossible! The assets are already in existence. They could make a new DLC every month if they wanted to. To say that they have nothing ready is over-the-top.

This guy doesn't market.

Ah yes.  I'm sure Smash Bros. would be way more popular if they just didn't do all those Directs describing every facet of the game, keeping the entire internet constantly invested and interested in the upcoming release, and just dropped a trailer a month before launch instead.

If you do market, I feel sorry for the company you work for.
