This is question for anyone who have any knowledge in programming. Are new features in Total War Warhammer even possible at this point? What i mean by new features, is completely new, so far unseen mechanics for some new factions, something more than just add on screen with improvements to click.

For example, i would love to see completely new, unique Council of 13 mechanic, where we can play political games or interesting Phoenix court, and etc.

Would be easily possible as a new mechanic. 3k and especially Pharao Dynasties have an amazing Court/Politics system that CA could easily reuse for the HE rework for example.

I'm curious — should a court system be exclusive to a single DLC lord, or should it be available to all factions of that race? For example, it would feel out of place for Balthasar Gelt and Karl Franz to be competing for Elector Counts, so we got the new Gelt mechanic.

All HE should get a proper Court/Politics mechanic but I could see for example only Malekith getting a Black Court Mechanic similar to Karl Franz only having the Elector Counts Mechanic.

This doesn't seem like it's a very intense programming question. We have gotten totally new Court Mechanics before. That would be the Chaos Dwarfs with the Tower of Zharr. Could they make new mechanics like that which are mechanically different, sure.

New features that offer novel play experiences are more than possible. I just don’t think CA is particularly incentivized to make them when people go nuts for campaigns that just offer a battle resource you can spend on a menu to buffstack/offer OP utility.

I expect more of the ToD model going forward when it comes to faction design unfortunately. Perhaps some more novel stuff occasionally in a race rework here or there.

Buddy, you do know 3K and Pharao exist and that they allowed for this sort of maneuvering, right?

Sure, but what i meant something completely new, something we havent seen before. Like, i dont know, places on map we see that we can actually interact with, not counting cities. Or we can manipulate Vortex to cause some devastating event or anything more than just buff this unit with %

I don't think so. I think that the game is being pushed further than it was intended to be pushed. If they delve too deeply into the guts of this game it's probably going to break entirely.

Map expansions are possible but interacting with the vortex seems off limits unless you mean something like basic dilemmas that change mapwide stats for example.

Buddy, I repeat, 3K and Pharao. You also didn't ask for that in your OP, you asked for court mechanics.

I think u should read OP again. And what exactly is added in Pharao that is completely new and unseen before?

To be fair, Pharaoh’s court system isn’t a very interesting politics system. It’s a pretty ignorable part of the game and not well implemented into the campaign.

Disagree 100%. If you ignore it you miss out on a lot of possible boons. If you engage with it, you have to pay attention as to what other factions are doing and what is being done to you. It's one of the few mechanics in TW as a whole that allows you to interact with other factions outside of combat. Combining this with the in-depth espionage system in 3K would be ideal.

Eh, my issue with it is it can feel very fiddly and not very impactful turn over turn, especially when you can just ignore the court and win a campaign without it. Actions in the court not really translating to diplomacy ramifications outside of the court was also a bit weird.

Don’t get me wrong, still better than not having the court, I just wish Sophia had the bandwidth to address those issues and improve the system as I think it had more potential than what we were left with. It would be interesting to see more systems like it in WH3, but the way the game is set up I imagine it would face a lot of problems.

It's always possible. Modders can even do some of that with scripting.

CA has access to the while source code, so they could do whatever they want.

The question is not "can CA add a new feature?" but "would CA add a new feature?"

It's a question of how much does it cost, and what is the benefit for them.

Something we never seen before is the key in OP

I posted here somewhere else already but I think all Empire factions should have gotten a Colleges of Magic mechanic, which would allow to promote your Wizard heroes to Wizard lords via an Ice Court-like process.

Then the Golden Order should have gotten its current mechanics under "Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic" name or equivalent, to represent the edicts that the head of the Colleges of magic is able to pass.

Just keep moving the goalposts. It shows you are here to complain and be negative, not to actually debate anything.
