Reworked races loving it

I'm loving the reworked races, orcs and ogres included. Normally I did not play those campaigns but now with all the mechanics it's heaps of fun. Keep those reworks coming!!

Hardest disagree.


All the reworks have made those races more boring by powercreepig them into the stratosphere. Winning campaigns the moment you start them takes away any reason to actually play the game, it also erases most idiosyncrasies between them. Not to speak when CA somehow decides to rework factions into something that barely resembles what the race should actually be like.


Dwarfs were turned into hyper-aggressive unit spamming Skaven with beards

Khorne was turned into a turtler who benefits from staying home

WoC were given a ton of passive income so they have less reason to raid and pillage

Beastmen are just extreme easy-mode steamrolling when their fighting style should involve more ambushes and hit and run tactics

etc.


None of the reworks hit the mark.

GS are fun but Ogres are still unplayable for me. The fact that you can just max out Ogre Camps at turn 30 without requiring Growth completely kills the campaign for me.

Sorry, I absolutely do not like it when CA gives races playstyles that run completely counter to how those races should actually feel.


Dwarfs becoming Skaven with beards is an unforgivable grudging.

You’ll find a lot of idiots on Steam Forums complaining that the factions without recent reworks cannot paint the map by turn 50 therefore it’s not fun like the new races.  And then other idiots will agree and remark that these legacy factions “have not caught up to the new balance” and is therefore lagging behind and need a rework.


The rampant idiocy makes me feel in touch with my inner Gork, but the sad truth is an idiot’s dollar is worth just as much as your dollar.

Dwarves growth is too high 

Khorne old buildings were better for passive income.

WoC are simply easy mode and dark fortresses give are unassaible by the AI.

Beastman are on changeling levels of cant lose.

I think new Khorne would probably be perfectly fine, if corruption and public order were more important. If Khorne was constantly having internal rebellions all the buffs and power creep would make more sense.

Khorne should actually thrive on having rebellions and civil unrest. More blood to spill and more skulls to collect after all. Maybe have a mechanic in which Khorne's settlements become less productive the higher PO is?

Tbf WoC, WE and BM had amazing reworks and the concept of their campaigns is phenomenal. The issue is that there are no downsides and everything is overtuned.

Anyway, I find that OP is getting a lot of undeserved flack when the latest reworks went into the right direction (obviously excluding Bearded Skavens from my comment). Ogres and Khorne indeed require a new balance patch as they are clearly OP but the rework also tackled some important issues and should be praised for that.

I find the people who want a dumbed-down TW are actually not all that numerous, they just have a lot of free time to complain on forums. Thousand posts by one guy is still just the opinion of one guy.


I disagree on the two most recent reworks deserving praise. Making Khorne less unique and then also encouraging turtling was just dumb. Allowing Ogre-camps to grow with just meat with free garrisons was dumb too. Never have free anything and if you allow growth via resources like it's possible for Chaos Dwarfs, see to it that the resource is either rare or the costs are adequately high. Of course CA ignored both considerations.

Maybe it's because I always sort of self-constrain myself when playing but I have never abused the upkeep reduction in garrison and I saw it as just a nice bonus while recruiting. It's Total War, why would I turtle when being overagressive is better and easy ? So it's not bothering me much.


I agree on Ogres but that's nothing that cannot be easily balanced. As you said CA has already demonstrated that they can balance such economies with CDwarfs.


In the end, all this seems ok to me as it can all be fixed quite easily. On the other hand, Dwarfs will forever be a rush faction which gets legendary bonuses when they commit genocide.

The race reworks have been amazing.


Ogres have become very fun-I might even start a Greseus or Skrag campaign soon to pass the time for the next DLC!


Can't wait to see how they change the High Elves and Slaanesh! And whatever the third race is!

It's the game's job to limit the player, not for the player to play with one hand tied behind their back. I will never ever accept any suggestion that comes with the idea that the player has to play ineffeciently on purpose.

It's entirely bothersome because you can prepare as much as you want to take on any enemy and the game rewards you for procrastinating. Khorne should never encourage this. Remember, Kharn the Betrayer killed his warband when they decided to camp and wait for better weather to continue fighting and Khorne approved of this.


It also renders the bloodletting mechanic entirely pointless.
