Why the hell CA took some good stuff away from Greasus?

Just saw GBOG video on Ogres. Greasus wasn't/isn't overpowered like some other Lords, so why did he lost:

+ 25% unit mass bonus

- 50% upkeep for Ironguts

+ 14 bonus vs large from ''Drakecrush'' unique skill (removed in 6.0)

That and the fact that CA did nothing with his model. Overall rework looks good, but I assumed CA won't take away the good things and will simply add more goodness. So nothing would be lost + fun new stuff.

Why Greasus was/is bad on the battlefield? He is big and slow, so he melts to missiles quickly. I proposed 30/40 more missile resistance for him and + 10% more health to make him a better tank. CA added a skill where he gets more speed and vanguard deployment <- this sucks.

Add to his strenghts CA, do not try to buff his goddam speed, he's not about speed... we just lost opportunity to get a resilient character that you don't want to fight in melee.

I'm really disappointed, but hey, maybe CA disliked ''We need to talk about Ogres'' threads...

Greasus rework looks 5/10. It's meh. We got something, but also lost something. And Greasus wasn't even OP...

Wait according to OP, Greasus lost 25% mass, lost reduced upkeep for certain units in army, and lost a BvL ability.

In exchange he got vanguard placement (who would??), and some more speed (okay but is he even fast?)

I can understand if CA only added Vanguard and a bit of speed, and no other changes… that would mean CA was wary of big changes but at least nudging the needle in the right direction.  But why would CA decrease the mass of the biggest ogre in the lore???

Seems to me those things are on tech right now and greasus main strentgh comes from his position, access to resources and unique mechanic.  Tbf the biggest loser right now seems to be skarbrand that lost his nigh infinite movement range and is overshadowed by skulltaker scalling self-buffing or Arbaal`s conquest teleportation and more traditional empire building (he can get an empire quite easily make his units incredibly cheap).

There should be more of this where reworks are concerned.

Lost a little, gained essentially cheat codes.

Greasus won far more than he lost?  Is the OP spitting misinformation, then?

His mechanic is incredibly powerful.  A stronger, easier to use Changing of the Ways.

Greasus was never OP, far from it.

Never asked for cheat codes. I asked for better battle performance and fun unique skills. Being a real tanky character too.

You won far more than you lost, no big deal.

I never asked for Changing of the Ways 2.0... my ''problem'' with Greasus was/is totally different, he should be a melee monster that is resilient (in lore he took a big axe to the chest and squeezed big Orc really hard).

This thread is about CA not-addressing a popular issue. Who asked for speed buff for him? edit - I mean, speed is not his thing. Hitting hard and being huge, bigger and badder than other Tyrants is.

Wrong. For example I disliked how Grom overshadowed Skarsnik, so right now (did that just today) I'm prasing CA that now Skarsnik focuses on Night Goblins, while he got a decent nerf to upkeep reductions. Definitely a good change.

This thread is about Greasus, hardly a broken OP Lord, but whatever.

People were always complaining about Greasus being slow so I guess a lot of people were in favour of a speed buff.

It was definitely a big complaint that he couldn’t keep up with Ogres making marching to the enemy incredibly awkward. Not to mention that Greasus’s ability to hit things was very much hindered by his ability to be kited. Between a speed update and the animation fixes he should be better.

It looks like he's being lined up to be the Alith Anar of Ogres - insane faction mechanics but mediocre battle presence.

I think that's fine?  I honestly wish Yuan Bo had been more like that rather than succumbing to the power creep.  There's nothing wrong with LLs whose power is concentrated in the faction rather than the lord.

His speed and animations were the issue. Would be amazing if they looked at his animations as they seem to have added some speed to him.

Even now Greasus with all his "speed" buffs is left behind compared to the rest of his army. He is not "Thorgrim", that other dwarfs carry him but generally the dwarven armies are slow to advance - Ogre armies are relatively fast. Greasus is always left behind unable to move properly (Even with Vanguard, you would never put your lord before everyone else to get shot and die).
Something that CA could do is to give Greasus whole army Vanguard deployment (similar to Vlad) so the slow Overtyrant could even reach before getting shot to death.

Yeah.

I really don't get why Greasus can't be a tanky character when in lore and in tabletop being slow, tough and hitting hard is his thing. He is a mountain of muscle and fat!

WH3 has Gor Rok, Vlad, Sigvald, Malus, Kugath... Cathay Lords are also pretty tough...

Now Skrag gets regenerations and armour sundering attacks. Greasus doesn't get extra health, armour-sundering attacks (Strenght 10 on tabletop!) or extra missile/physical resistance. Skrag is a clear winner here when it comes to battle.

It's not like I (and some others) wanted OP, game-breaking stuff, no. Compare him to others mentioned above.

A bit of extra health and additional toughness.
