Nice to see Herald Nekaph name-dropped again by CA, which supports my continuing hopium for Tomb Kings DLC.

Interesting wording that suggests that Skulltaker played the pride of both Kakalekh & Nekaph to draw them both out, but of note that it is Kakalekh's "Skull alone" that hangs from Skulltaker's cloak.

Glorious Herald Nekaph lives to fight another day.

I really wish for another TK DLC, since they desperately need the High Liche Priest, but I'm worried there aren't enough units for it, unless you count the Bone Giant/Ushabti variants.

There should be enough, though granted it requires some relaxed permissions from GW and a bit of creative license. This was the DLC theorycrafted list from Loremaster of Sotek on a stream the other day:

Only thing I would add is a higher tier infantry unit. Saw someone on reddit suggest the casket of soul guard become that higher tier unit.

Yes, that'd be a good idea - Would be fitting for the DLC because the Liche Priest on the Casket of Souls model is suitably grand to be implemented as the Liche High Priest in-game.

I think if they make a DLC with Sehenesmet as the lord and Ramhotep/Apophas/Nekaph as the LH's instead of as many units, it could also work.

Agreed. Sehenesmet and Ramhotep cover the same base with being construct focused, but the former has a lot more going for him, (design, magic, is an actual ruler of his city, not to mention having rules in 6th). Ramhotep doesn't have any of those so really he's just a special named Necrotect, he'd make for a great LH alongside Sehenesmet as LL. I know it's contentious, but I'd prefer Apophas as a LL too. Nekaph should be FLC IMO since he's Settra exclusive.

Don't get me wrong, I like Sehenesmet a lot, but he is functionally a Liche Priest with a construct-focus. Khatep is already there to fulfil the Liche Priest niche. We don't have a Necrotect niche, and Ramhotep is an 8th edition character so more up to date.

Loremaster of Sotek clarified in the same stream that he's had conversations with CA and that whilst they'd like to see Apophas in-game, they don't envision him as a LL.

As for Nekaph, I think it should be rules akin to Kroak/Itza - Settra/Khemri has him available from the beginning. Other LL's can work to recruit him from a special quest. He is the Emissary of Settra after all, so makes sense he'd go to represent Settra's will with other LL's.

Is that even a niche? I mean, it's not like with other LLs your armies won't rely on constructs, especially in the late game. Necrotect LL (or even necrotect generic lord) would just do the same thing as every other Tomb Kings character, but better.
