High Elves lost vision with trade.

I noticed just recently (since the most recent patch this week) that when I play the high elves, I no longer have full vision of their land. I started this game last week before the newest patch and it worked with other high elves, but today I was continuing and started trading with Sisters of Twilight and Exiles of Nehek, where as you can see, I do not have full vision over their lands. Obviously, posting this as feedback so that it can be fixed in a future patch. Thanks

It happened before, maybe as soon as IE csme out. I think that the fact that some HE factions kept it was a bug or oversight. Last DLC made trade vision part of Yuan Bo,'s faction trait and definitely removed it for HE. Also, the HE tech that grants vision over sea regions doesn't always work and I've definitely seen enemy armies "disappear" into the sea or attack from where they shouldn't have bee n if I actually had vision over sea regions.

CA officially stated this HE mechanics got deleted in 2.0 update, although this modification wasn't correctly implemented until 4.0 update.

I'm an optimistic guy, to me that change means that HE will get an update soon.

They surely need something to compensate. They don't really have any perks left.

It was a decision they made over a year before Yuan Bo was implemented, just one they failed to code correctly before Yuan Bo was released.

In place of the loss of this perk, I'd like the High elves to have something lorewise that is similar to what it was to represent but not approach other faction mechanics. So far I'm out of any good unique ideas but I'm thinking that High elves get increased trade income with a bonus from ports or increased influence over factions via their intrigue system(even with that bonus I'd think the latter would be less convenient than slannesh's mechanic).

Reduced influence costs/more powerful results against factions you trade with perhaps?

They lost the perk to begin with because trade route requirements for trade partners were removed in WH3, which was a substantial buff to the High Elves.

A system like crusades in Med2 would make sense and be easy to implement. You get a mission somewhere in the world, you select an army or recruit a new one designated to accomplish that mission and get perks like highly reduced upkeep and massive movement boost but you can only attack very precise targets and if you  take too much time to close distance to the target you start losing the bonuses. As a reward you could get some especial items, access to the especial spells from RoC for a few turns and classic stuff like money, improved relations, character recruit rank and all that stuff.

They also lost entrepeneurs. HE never had anything especial other than strong units and their mechanics were all passive, now they're even losing them. They definitely need a serious rework.

Yeah because Entrepreneur-stacking was just a cheese. You’re acting as if that was a significant “mechanic”. High Elves are still more than capable on the campaign map, and far from a hard race.

Do I think they need a new race mechanic? Yes, but only because all of the WH2 base races deserve one, not because I think the High Elves are now underpowered because they lost simple elements like vision on trade or a trait-stacking cheese.

The trait worked correctly, it was the abuse which was problematic and it remained a player's choice. And of course it wasn't a significant mechanic because HE have been lacking one since ever, but recent changes have removed part of theminimal stuff they had, alongside fire resistance for phoenixes and flaming attacks for dragons. They also had some buffs with changes to martial mastery, but something more interactive would be appreciated. And I didn't say they were underpowered, just in need of something else, because a rework doesn't mean necessarily a buff.

They need a serious rework regardless of this change. Flavour is all!

I did not know that.. and that's dumb. That was always their thing.

“It’s too abused.  Therefore in the interests of balance and game health, we’re removing it from this legacy race and giving it to the new DLC faction.  Best dragon.”

Wait did you say CA removed fire resist from phoenixes and flaming attack from dragons?  Surely that’s not true.

This is mostly accurate.  Phoenixes dropped from 70% to 40% fire resist and dragons straight-up lost flaming attacks.
