It's official that Celestial Dragon Guard cavalry does exist. The identity of unit is the only lingering question. The Jade Lancers are a rock solid shock cavalry unit. Does Grand Cathay really benefit from having a higher tiered version of Jade Lancers, though? 

Chaos Knights -- and most recently the Blood Knights -- have shown that there is definitely a strong argument for having truly durable melee cavalry in a roster. The upgrade from Jade Lancers to Celestial Dragon Guard cavalry does give the unit a  ward save like that of a Chaos Knight on the Tabletop. Obviously something like Knights of the Black Rose -- or any other similar unit -- are a real plus for MANY rosters in the game. Should Celestial Dragon Guard cavalry follow suit and give the race something entirely different than what its current cavalry options can? 

Should they go in a slightly different direction and add a shock cavalry unit with a ranged attack? Something like that would almost certainly put an end to the discussion about a Leering Devil cavalry unit with dual pistols. 

Either way, it's something that helps them out in a number of ways. For starters, it would force Jade Lancers to be the tier-two unit that they've always been. It would also likely pull Great Longma Riders out of their delusion of being a tier-five unit, as well. Those changes are enough reason to see them brought into the game sooner rather than later.

I don't have to think, I know exactly what they are; Great Longma Riders. Great Longmas are a flying monstrous creature used as a mount. Celestial Dragon Guard cavalry are a direct upgrade to Jade Lancers. What do you "think" Jade Lancers are?

Where are you getting that from? Because riders sitting on top of those longma things are Celestial Dragon Guard

 

It's in the Arcane Journal. Jade Lancers and Jade Warriors are upgraded to Celestial Dragon Guard units in Miao Ying's army with all the bells and whistles that come along with being a Celestial Dragon Guard unit.
