here is something on reddit regarding this issue that i found.

" Just go to the folders you'd go to for save files for the newer TW titles. Users>[your name]>AppData>Roaming>The Creative Assembly. Among the files for each game there's a file titled "launcher". Delete that and it will redownload when you start up a game. The launcher should be very fast and responsive now. "

i have the same problem and following this fixed it for me.

Having the same issue, thanks for this, worked.
I'd like to add that I was curious what was causing the issue specifically in that folder if anything, like maybe a bloated log file,  so I backed up my Launcher folder then after downloading a new one with game launch put back the old log and moddata file, and then eventually just the whole old launcer folder, strangely, you can restore and overwrite with the entire backed up Launcher folder and it will not go back to being slow, very weird, at least we don't have to lose our mod load orders or anything.

Same here. Already contact the support and they are giving some generic reply. Also delete launcher. Looks fine first but next day lagging return. Probably something worng with launcher txt file.

Probably it's the problem with launcher and ofc sega/ca do not want to admit that. Looks like we have to wait for few days untill they fix it.

Yeah but im kinda worried because i found a that this occoured all the way back in 2016. And i never found if they fixed it or not back then. Its just so random like it seems to affect just a very small portion of people but should be all having this problem if it is just the launcher ?

I don't know, man. The best solution I've got is to just delete the TXT file from the launcher folder and relaunch the game. That way, the mod load order doesn't get messed up, and the lagging is solved. But I still think it's only a temporary solution. Also, don't forget to back up the launcher folder just in case something goes wrong.

Hey guys

I am just checking to see if the issue has still persisted for you all as I'm in the same boat? However, my issue appeared about two days after patch 6.1.1. Everything on the mod manager was going super fine as usual (even after the recent patch), and then all of a sudden the issues described in this thread began to appear, and have progressively gotten worse since then. I also have been getting this weird message that pops up whenever I try to open mod manager (screenshot below), but I dont think my mods are the problem because it was all fine until a couple of days.

I have already sent a bug report to CA (I am not sure if that is the right thing to do), but I just wanted to check if the issue is still persisting and that the next hot fix (6.1.2) is going to fix this mod manager bug. I already read about the approach of deleting the launcher folder, but as Im not savy with software and game files, I'm very weary about doing it.

cheers

Yeah, you’re not alone—most players are facing the same issue , but unfortunately, CA will likely just give a generic response instead of directly addressing it. Just to clarify—deleting the launcher folder won’t affect your game itself since it automatically regenerates when you start any Total War game. The only thing it impacts is your mod load order, so if you’re using mods, you might need to set them up again.

If you haven't already, try deleting only the TXT file inside the launcher folder instead of the whole folder. It temporarily fixes the issue without messing up your mod order, but you’ll probably have to do it again in a day or two. If you’re unsure, I’d recommend backing up the launcher folder before deleting it. That way, if anything goes wrong, you can restore it easily. Hope that helps!

Thanks JishuRoy for the update, and that is good to know it is still an ongoing problem. I will give it a try at some stage if CA still haven't fixed the problem (here's hoping hotfix 6.1.2 solves this issue), those steps you provided are really clear to follow.

I reported the issue to CA last night, and they said this something we're aware of and are looking into (I presume that is the generic response you are referring to). I honestly still cannot fathom why they wanted to update the mod manager anyway, it was not like the news segment was a hassle to put up with.

hello everyone, I’m still having the same issue of it being delayed(slow) and that’s with Attila, Rome and Troy. I’m assuming that we will have to wait on a fix for it but could someone give me the steps on deleting the TXT file on the launcher, thankyou

Please try the following:

1. Please press the windows key + R

2. Type "%appdata%" and then hit enter

3. Go to "The Creative Assembly" folder and open "Launcher Folder"

 4.  within Launcher folder delete the "TXT file"

5. Run any Total War Game, this will generate a new file

Or

C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Launcher

Don't forget to back up the launcher folder just in case something goes wrong.

Looks like will have to wait for hotfix 6.1.3 or 6.2 for the mod manager launcher to start working again lol
