I've been having the EXACT same bug. Has made the game completely unplayable for me. Certainly hasn't always been this way. I have 677 hours in game and hadn't run into this issue before, and its been non-stop for me!

Step by step of the bug

Basiaclly, i either start a new campaign or load a current save file, enter a battle and at some point the screen will freeze. The game sounds as though it continues in the background, i cant still move my mouse but the screen stays frozen. The gaem doesn't crash though so i have to force close with the task manager.
My game and graphics drivers are upto date, the latest download on the 19/05 (i think it was then) PC hardware: Ryzen 9 5900xGeforce 3070ti 8gb1Tb ssd32 Gb
