As we've seen with TWW, the Total War formula works even better with established fantasy IPs than it does with historical periods. I feel like, if done correctly, Total War Middle Earth, Total War Faerun(d&d), Total War Azeroth, would all be amazing and extremely successful games. All 3 already have many races, factions, lore, and expansive maps to work with that are beloved by millions worldwide. I realize Azeroth may be a pipe dream because its already the setting of an ongoing, persistent, ever changing world completely owned by another game company but Middle Earth and Faerun, as we've seen many times before, have no problem lending their IPs to various game companies.

Faerun and Azeroth...no. Faerun would be at best a lesser version of Warhammer since Warhammer already is a fantasy-kitchen sink setting but has the advantage of being an actual wargame while Faerun is primarily an RPG setting where major warfare is an afterthought. Azeroth has no chance in hell of happening. If anything Microsoft would make their own 4X Warcraft title or a proper Warcraft IV if they were ever so inclined.

Total War: Redwall.  There's a surprising amount of depth to be used.

I would faint like a Gothic novel heroine if they made Total War: Redwall.

Total War: Terminator. Fight for humanity or terminate them. Low faction count but enough unit variations to make it interesting.

Skynet settings (AI) should be nxtgen.
