Greetings folks,

We hope you’ve all been enjoying the Dynasties update so far! We’ve just rolled out hotfix 2.0.1 to address a few issues that have been identified in the wake of release.

Here’s what we’ve got for you:

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when adding an apostrophe while editing a law text field in Ancient Legacy Hammurabi
  • Fixed issues with Shuffle Commands option for minor factions
  • Fixed a crash when trying to change the epithet of the ruler
  • Turns per Year and Seasonal Effects are no longer incorrectly overridden when loading a game
Note: Continuing old campaigns will allow for the correct progression of years, but some already present issues in existing saves may remain
  • Adjustments to end-turn sequence performance to avoid extreme frame-rate drops
  • Fixed a UI bug where 'The Dynasty Tree' and 'Dynasties' tabs could disappear, making the feature inaccessible.
Note: This is caused when an heir from another faction, who is not a blood relative to the dynasty ruler, succeeds the Supreme Ruler. In such case the heir character appears to not to be part of a Dynasty anymore. This could potentially result in further issues with the Dynasty system in the Campaign. The fix will apply to new campaigns only, or if the player reloads a save game from before the issue occurred.
  • Aegean and Mesopotamian factions can now trade battle legitimacy
  • Fixed an issue for horde factions where the new faction leader would not be spawned on the map when the old leader dies
  • Fixed an issue where the passive command of Iolaos that provides War Spoils rank buff was not working
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Plans Within Plans - Playing as Bay, complete 10 Intrigues in the Hittite Court’ achievement was not working
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Counter Plots’ deed was not working
  • Added missing logo to Photo Mode

We also wanted to acknowledge that many of you have raised some concerns around balance – thank you for your feedback. We’re going to quickly address the core topics for you here:

Anti Player Bias Reports

We’re actively investigating reports and would very much appreciate your help in identifying bugs that are causing adverse behaviours. Please report them HERE

Issues with AI Army Production

While we don’t think there are any bugs with the systems at play here, we do realise that some fine tuning is required on easier difficulties. Rest assured that realise many players do enjoy the difficulty of the game and so we intend to ensure any balance changes are appropriate for the difficulty settings players have picked. In the meantime, we wanted to take the opportunity to direct players to these settings when creating campaigns, which may help tweak the experience to their needs:

Issues with early game economy:

  • Increase your own starting budget with the setting [Campaign] > [Player Starting Budget]
  • Tweak the AI’s starting budget with the setting [AI] > [AI Starting Budget]
  • Change army upkeep with the setting [Campaign] > [Player Army Upkeep]

Issues with the AI producing armies too quickly:

  • Increase your own recruitment capacity in the setting [Campaign] > [Player Recruitment Capacity]
  • Decrease the AI recruitment capacity in the setting [AI] > [Recruitment Capacity]

Issues with Lethality

We’re also aware that while many of you are enjoying the lethality system, some of you are feeling like it’s not hitting quite right. Again, we are investigating the most ideal way to ensure all players can play the game with a system that feels right for them, whether that’s incredibly lethal battles, or some a bit more forgiving. In the meantime, there is a setting players can experiment with to adjust lethality in battles.

Try disabling it to see if you prefer it off with the setting [Battle] > [Lethality Chance]

Thanks to everyone who reported bugs and given feedback since launch! If you run into any issues after updating to 2.0.1 please be sure to report them over in our dedicated bug reporting sub-forum

Until next time, we’ll see you on the battlefield!
